THE RED CARPET RUNDOWN: HUM STYLE AWARDS 2020

In another episode of ‘style slaughter’, the Hum STYLE awards happened last weekend. The red carpet was buzzing with celebrities but with mostly the winners only. Where were the rest? Busy watching the finale of ‘Mere paas tum ho”? lol

Anyways, I am no journalist to get into long introduction paragraphs of how amazing the event was or how dazzling everything looked (I wasn’t even invited, how would I know anyway 🤪). So, let’s just hop on to the red carpet looks pronto (I am already late by a week 😩)

From what we’ve seen over the years, this year’s red carpet was actually a better attempt, it was a good mix of nice and ugly and not JUST the ugly. Our celebrities are finally getting into the habit of hiring stylists and actually paying a heed about their red carpet appearance.Well, at least there was no one in a Walima outfit this time.  Although there’s still a long way to go, the good thing is that we’re trying.

THE BEST DRESSED: (in no particular order of preference)

1. KIRAN MALIK

OUTFIT BY: ALI ZEESHAN

Awards-27-1350x2025

The most distinct look on the red carpet was definitely Kiran Malik’s. She’s got style running in her veins! Gelled hair with a statement piece, a solid black choker and a big rock on her finger were the perfect complements to her playful retro polka Ali Zeeshan saree.

2. NAUSHEEN SHAH

OUTFIT BY: HUSSAIN REHAR

Another favourite look! Nausheen Shah killing it in a shiny sparkly pant suit. I love the whole OTT (over the top) accessorising and the experimental hair style. Not a thing was out of place.

3. HAJRA KHAN

OUTFIT BY: HASHTAG BY SONYA

For those who don’t know, Hajra Khan is the Captain of Pakistan’s national football team. To see a sportswoman with such graceful fashion aesthetic is a pleasure beyond words. Silver accessories, a bold lip and the perfect pantsuit were a winner combo!

4. MUSHK KALEEM

OUTFIT BY: SHEHLA CHATOOR

Mushk Kaleem was another stunner in a Shehla Chatoor creation paired with sparkly danglers and pvc heels, she was very well styled.

5. SARA SHAHID

OUTFIT BY: SUBLIME BY SARA (HER OWN LABEL)

Untitled

Sara Shahid is the epitome of minimalistic elegance. I believe it’s very difficult to carry this much YELLOW in a single outfit, but she did it and she actually looked beautiful. I’ve always thought yellow is a very casual colour not the sort you wear on night events or formally but the way she’s styled it with the gold choker, statement earrings and sleek hair, it looks really nice and perfectly suited to the event. The best part is that the gown is very well draped and stitched. *thumbs up*

THE WORST DRESSED: (absolutely in order of how terrible they were)

WARNING: PLEASE VIEW AT YOUR OWN DISCREATION. DISPLEASING AND OBJECTIONABLE CONTENT AHEAD. 🤪

1.KUBRA KHAN

OUTFIT BY: MARYAM AL OMAIRA

I for the life of me have not ever seen ONE worthy red carpet look from Kubra (why is my autocorrect suggesting Cobra 😬). So, sadly she was styled by an actual stylist (unlike many others) but the look just couldn’t work it’s Halloween charm on the red carpet. The earrings and heels are completely out of place and the cut outs on the lower of the dress are just simply put…UGLY! Might have been better if she had dropped a few tiers from the bottom or maybe just dropped the whole outfit instead 🤭

2.MANSHA PASHA

OUTFIT BY: SHAMSHA HASHWANI

MY GOD! I don’t know where to start from. First things first, where is the other sleeve? because in no way does this look like an asymmetrical blazer dress. The garment construction is so bad. It looks as if the Adday wala couldn’t finish the work on time so he just sent in one sleeve for Shamsha to design around, in the nick of time (read as: raat-o-raat). Ok, I love polka dot stockings since they give a very Saint Laurent-ish vibe but alas in this case even they couldn’t save the day. Why Mansha??? After looking so stunning on your engagement, wasn’t expecting this at all 😫

3. BEENISH PARVEZ (CELEBRITY HAIR STYLIST)

OUTFIT BY: TABASSUM MUGHAL

The hair is beautifully done but what on earth is that outfit and those heels?? *cringe* While the colour of it isn’t so bad but everything else certainly is. I don’t think adding a belt made any difference either. This is just an extremely ugly designed thaan of silk.

4. MEERA JEE

OUTFIT BY: ANUM JUNGImage may contain: 1 person, standing

The LV heels might be original but that wannabe Sabaysachi of a kaftan is just not on. On the designer’s part, dude how ill-informed could you be of the fact that nobody would notice? Those darn Sabyasachi palm trees have been done to death!! GET OVER HIM!! And I swear my darzan could stitch better pleats than your in-house professional stitcher. ugh!!!

5.AYESHA TOOR

OUTFIT BY: ??? (IT’S A GOOD THING WE DON’T KNOW)

Giving a tough competition to all the style wreckers, there she was …. Ayesha Toor. Totally didn’t get the memo of an award show and still stuck in her 80s look since the 80s.   This was just bad, bad and bad. Although the gypsy look was trending about a century ago but honestly babe, fashion has moved on thankfully and it’s about time you should too. xoxo

She may be last on the list but that wasn’t the end my fellows, picture abhi baki hai:

And then there were looks that were completely uncategorizable … like this:

and this:

And I promise this is the last one:Image may contain: 1 person, standing and text

On a ‘side’ note, the following ladies would have been on my best dressed but that exaggerated shoulder construction is so terrible, I just couldn’t ignore it. OCD issues kiya karoon! too bad.

They both reminded me of:

So yes plagiarism was also another root cause of not featuring them tsk tsk! Deepika looked stunning tho! 🤩

That’s it from me, hope you enjoyed the review. Do let know your feedback!

Until next time!

Adios amigos xoxo 💋
