Think of spring and you think of bursts of bloom and the glittering sunshine. Having exactly this in mind, Daaman presented their first ever runway collection at the Fashion Pakistan Week 2014. With an establishment of almost 5 years now, Daaman has carved a niche for itself, competing with ready to wear giants like Khaadi and Generation. Each piece was aptly designed for the conservative chic crowd, there was no overload of skin show unlike many others, thus making it a definitive seller. I believe that if you want to inject style and trendy-ness into the society, then that has got be a major responsibility of ready to wear retailers. With designer wear being so irrationally expensive, ready to wear brands are the only solution to truly shaping up the masses fashionably; no wonder every other designer is hopping on to the retail bandwagon! Daaman with its right amount of fusion is for sure playing its part well! Here’s what Maleeha, CEO at Daaman, the ace beauty with brains, has to say about her debut runway collection:
“The intent behind the showcase was primarily to create an uplifting feeling that i always associate with spring …..The starting point for all my work is almost always color and it was true this time around as well…I was intrigued by the contrast of bright florescent shades with the shimmery pastels that we used. The cuts were were meant to be flattering and modern but super wearable at the same time. We kept embellishment on the down-low and focused on the interplay of prints as this was a completely ready-to-wear showcase.”
